After you set up a blog using wordpress, you will also need to install wordpress plugins. Plugins are amazing features of wordpress that gives you power to enhance your wordpress SEO, appearance, make your images gallery more beautiful, showing videos in your site, and so much more.

It is easy to install wordpress plugins.

Prepare the plugins file you want to use to install wordpress plugins. You can either install it by typing plugins name in “plugins” search inside your dashboard or surf free WordPress Plugins at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/.
If you have a premium plugins (plugins you buy from a developer) you don’t need to follow my advice above.

1. Log Into WordPress Admin page. If you are an administrator, type domain.com/wp-admin. Type your username and password to authorize.
2. Scroll down, you will find “Plugins” in the list of the left side your admin page.
Find a “Add New” button, and search the plugin you want to install. If you look for a video plugin, just type “video” in the search input box.
If you have a premium plugin, click “upload” tab.

4. Install wordpress Plugins automatically.
After you typed the keyword or name of the plugins in step 3. It will brings you a page where you will see lots of plugins names in the lists.
You will need to check the compatibility of the plugins. It will show you what version of WordPress the plugin can be installed.
It will display, “Compatible Up To: 3.0.1″. This means, the plugin is compatible to wordpress version 3.0.1 which is the new one.
The other thing which should be considered, is the plugins rating and how many people have been downloaded the plugin.
The ratings can be gived for many reasons, for example, whether the plugin developer updates their plugin or not. The more the plugin is updated, the more chance to be compatible with wordpress the latest version.

After you are sure you want to install the plugin, hit the red button, labeled, “Install Now”. WordPress will automatically installing the plugin for you by extracting the files in your webserver.
You just need to click the “Activate Plugin” link to start using the plugin.
5. Activate the new plugin.
After the step 4 above, you now have plugin files sitting in your webserver. To activate it, hit “Activate Plugin” button link.
Because plugins are created by different developers for different purposes, they have different settings as well. Some are already available to use after installed and activated, some have the settings you need to configure.
Example, after you install Google sitemap xml generator plugin, you need to configure, under “Settings” drop down menu, and “sitemap xml” link.
